Deleting your Pulse account.
In the app
This is the quickest way, and it takes effect immediately.
- Open Pulse, go to the You tab, and tap the gear icon at the top right.
- Scroll to the bottom of Settings and tap Delete account, in red.
- Read the two confirmations and tap Delete account. The second one is the point of no return.
Your account is deleted there and then, and you are signed out. We never charge for it, and we will not put you through a retention pitch to get it done.
If you can't get into the app
A lost password, a phone you no longer have, a sign-in that will not complete — you can still have the account deleted.
- Email cloverfields.tech@gmail.com from the address on your Pulse account, with Delete my account in the subject line. Sending from the account address is how we confirm it is you — a request from another address will get a verification step first.
- We reply within 2 business days to confirm the request and to check you understand it cannot be undone.
- Once you confirm, we delete the account. You will get a final message when it is done.
What gets deleted
Everything that makes up your presence on Pulse:
- your profile — name, username, photo, bio, gender and interests
- your moments, and the photos and videos in them
- meetups you created, and your RSVPs to other people's
- your comments, likes and saved items
- your messages, and the encryption keys that make them readable
- your travel circles and trips
- your follows, connections and blocks
- your device and push notification tokens
- your login credentials
Anything already governed by the app's ordinary expiry is gone sooner regardless — a pulse after 60 seconds, a meetup chat 48 hours after the meetup, a travel circle when the trip ends.
What we keep, and for how long
Three narrow exceptions, and nothing else:
- Safety records — up to 24 months. If your account was reported or actioned, we keep the report and a record of the outcome so that a banned account cannot be replaced by a new one. This is a legitimate interest under POPIA, and it is the one category that outlives your account.
- Transaction records — as long as tax and financial law requires. Subscription records sit with Apple and Google; what we hold is the minimum for our own books.
- Backups — up to 30 days. Deletion is immediate in the live system. Encrypted backups roll over on a 30-day cycle, after which the last copies are gone.
Messages you sent to other people stay on theirdevices, in the same way a text message does. We cannot reach into someone else's phone, and end-to-end encryption means we could not read those messages to remove them even if we could.
Timing
Deleting from inside the app is immediate — your profile is gone from other people the moment you confirm. An emailed request is processed once we have confirmed it is you. Either way the last traces, including the backup cycle above, are cleared within 30 days, which is the outer limit POPIA and the GDPR allow us.
Alternatives, if deleting is more than you need
- Ghost mode makes you invisible instantly — nobody sees you, you see nobody, and nothing about your account changes. One tap, and one tap back.
- Delete individual content. Any moment, comment or photo can be removed on its own without touching the rest of your account.
- Turn off location permissionin your phone's settings. Nearby discovery stops working; your account stays.
Getting a copy of your data first
You can ask for a copy of what we hold before you delete — email cloverfields.tech@gmail.com and we will send it within 30 days. Do this before requesting deletion; once the account is gone there is nothing left to export.
